I read the FAQ. I have the optiplex gx150 windows 2000 fast audio problem. I do not have the OPTIPLEX resource CD. I cannot find how to acquire one on this website. How in blazes do I get one? Lastly, the intel website suggests that the problem cannot be fixed unless the chipset drivers are installed before any other drivers, indicating that a reformat of the hard drive is required. Can anyone confirm that after I go to the hassle of getting the OPTIPLEX resource CD (assuming that this is in fact possible) that it will in fact work without reformatting the hard drive?
If the audio sounds too fast you have installed the wrong SoundMAX driver or you tried using the native OS driver. In order to fix this you need to use the driver that is distributed with your pc
Currently there are two software upgrades that add additional functionality to the SoundMAX Digital Audio System. The two products are Sensaura Headphone Theater™ and Sensaura Virtual Ear™. OEMs can bundle these upgrade products for a fee or end users can purchase them directly from Sensaura at: http://www.sensaurashop.com/

You dont need the resource CD.
The INF updater is here
http://developer.intel.com/design/software/drivers/platform/inf.htm
The Soundmax Driver is on the Dell Site.
Mickey mouse sound comes from Non Dell Soundmax AD18XX drivers being loaded.
If you have Service Pack4 or later then the chipset driver is not required.
Unistall any soundmax drivers and then install the dell drivers.
Without a Service Tag I cannot suggest another driver.
