File Transfer Protocol Tutorial

I have been trying to work with FTP for a while and I would like to have a written tutorial or instructions to use this feature. I have trouble getting information onto my homepage and then transfering it to the FTP to send out with my Emails.
Any help would be appreciated.

What ftp client are you using? If you're using the client that's packaged with win9x, I'd suggest getting something better. If you don't want to pay for it, try the free WS_FTP LE client.

Yes, I would agree that WS_FTP LE is terrific. Easy to use and understand. I'm not sure that I understand what your issue is. Post more specifics about what you are trying to do, exactly, and where, and what problems you are encountering trying to do it.

As for a tutorial, you might try CNET's Builder.com or ZDNET's computer education section. You'll probably be able to find information on FTP there, from basics to more advanced.

I have a 30 day evaluation of WS FTP Pro from IPSWITCH installed. I haven't bought it yet, but it seems to work well. I will try the two sites you suggested for more information. My problem is I don't know how to edit and save a picture and get it into my JPEG folder to transfer it to the web.
Thanks for the help.

Ah, another glimmer of information as to your real problem here. If you go into an FTP site with your FTP software, you simply double click the file you want from the site and it will transfer to your home computer and be saved wherever you say to save it on the left side of the WSFTP interface.

Once you have the file saved to your computer, you need to have an image editing program in order to modify it or make any images. Something like Paint Shop Pro, available from JASC SOFTWARE, perhaps. Then you edit it away. Then, you add it to your webpage or whatever you plan to do with it, FTP into your server and double click it into the proper file on your website.

Hope this helps a little. Good luck.
