If you are running Windows XP go to Start|Control Panel|Network Connections. Right-click on your connection and select Properties. On the Advanced tab you can see that your firewall is active if the item to protect your system with the firewall is checked.

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
Some programs put the firewall in the tray next to the clock. Check with the software company that you use to find out just where it is located.
