If it came with a SoundBlaster "Audigy" sound card there is a Firewire port on the card (on the Audity's rear I/O panel). If not, you will have to purchase a PCI firewire card.
Hi fireberd; You seem to be up on this stuff pretty good from what I've been reading.I have a questoin for you about the fire wire. I was told by JVC people that I need one.I have a Dell Dimesion 4400 that I upgraded to XP home and a JVC digital camera (GR-VD500) I have the sound blaster SB live that came on the unit. You said it may have a port on the back of card, I checked and here's what I found. There's a 15 pin conn. and then the small jacks colored as so. Blk. Grn. Pink Blu.Yel.The pink and Blu. and the 15 Pin are only ones not used. Do you know which one would happen to be for this fire wire port, if any? Also I'm going to Office Max, just ask for this fire wire cable? I guess that will tell me where to hook it up if they have one.
