Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
If you have any antivirus software or firewalls installed you can disable them to see if the floppy wil work.

disabling both had no effect on the problem.

Email support@dell.com and have the floppy drive replaced.

Jesse, called Dell and lady tech had me remove a lot of junk from the startup menu and this fixed the problem.
