I am going to take a stab at this. Go back to the other computer running ME and save the file again under a different name and then try reopening the file on the XP machine. I don't think it's a file system type issue. You did not state this, but it could be the ME machine is a company machine that includes a lot of protection rights and anti-virus features attached to each file when created. I run into the same issues as you when I try to transfer a file from work to home. See if that helps.
