I am a novice, Dimension 8300, no floppy drive fitted, but device manager lists one (and a floppy disk controller) If I un- install either one or both they reappear on startup. Causes problems when adding software from CDs as the Wizard searches the non existent floppy, and ignores the CD drive. How can I correct this problem. Computer 5 months old.
F2 into BIOS and disable the diskette options/floppy disk drive, then delete from device manager if the device remains. It should disappear for good at that point.
