Graphics card problems

I am currently having problems with my current graphics card, a Nvidia GeForce 8800GT 512MB. On a XPS 420 system running Vista SP1 32-bit. when i started a game, the screen went a pixelated blue colour, then black and then came up with blue screen of death. after it had restarted itself there were parallel blue dotted lines across my screen. So i opened up the desktop to see if I could spot anything but nothing i could se was wrong. and when it started i looked on DXDIAG and it said there wasn't a card plugged in just said n/a. So I turn it off left it to cool down and it started up fine, but about 5 minutes after start up it happened all over again. but after research i found out that it was broke so i ordered a new graphics car which is a Zotac GeForce 9800GT Synergy Edition 1 GB Graphics Card and my question is, has anyone had any problems with the Zotac card? will it run ok in my XPS 420? has anyone had the same graphics card failure?

Any help would be greetly appreciated, Thanks.

Card should work fine. I suggest you uninstall your current drivers and download the most recent ones from the Nvidia site. Good Luck.

Thanks for your repy. I have already uninstalled all my Nvidia drivers and am running computer with out the drivers installed. the new card come with the drivers so installing it should not prove to be difficult. one more question, my card that broke has a 6-pin power connector where my new one however does not, should i take the connector off the old card and solder it onto my new one?

Thanks
