Hard Drive/CD issues

Question

My hard drive crashed on my Dimension 8400 and I have replaced with a WD500 gig SATA.  At the same time I had to replace a CD drive, the drawer wouldn't open.  I have put both in the computer but when I start up I am receiving a message that 'Drive 4 not found: Parallel ATA, PATA-0 (Pri IDE Master)  I also get Drive 5 same message, except (Slave).  So, I can't access the set up for the new hard drive until I can solve this problem.  I have tried starting with the new drive unplugged.  I have checked cables to make sure they are seated properly.  Any ideas?

Hi make1154, Your manual HERE says connect your hard drive to SATA 0 port ( Drive 0 ), and your DVD drive to SATA 1 (Drive 1) port.

Thanks, but the CD's are both IDE, only the hard drive is SATA.

I've tried moving the jumpers around but still receive the message on start up 'No boot device available'

Part one solved....change the boot sequence so the CD is first.
