Get device drivers from the manufacturer's web site. If that's Dell then get the drivers from Dell downloads. Save the Microsoft drivers for use only with Microsoft-branded hardware.
Some non-Microsoft hardware updates I've downloaded from the MS update site don't work, at least not for me, eg, SIIG PCI IDE controller card, SoundBlaster Live! 24-bit card, etc...
What if I go to device manager then to driver section of component and click on update driver or would it be better to go to the manufactires website thanx.
Going to Device Manager & trying to update the driver from there will make Windows look at the Windows Update web site for new files. It's better to go to the manufacturer's web site.

it was showing up when I ran windows updates on section hardware updates for XP Windows.
I have downloaded these in the past from the Microsoft/windows updates but will now do it from manufactures website.
