can you describe what you are doing when your computer locks up? also, whether it makes any sounds? i'm trying to see if this is the same issue that I'm having.
in my case, i'll be doing something (moving mouse, opening folder, waking up from screen saver), and then everything on screen will freeze except for the mouse. then when i click the mouse, i will hear a single beep and the mouse cursor will freeze too.
i've run system diagnostics and it says all the hardware components check out. i've also done a fresh install of windows and it still happens, so it sort of rules out software issues.

If you have extras, you should try to switch them out.

I do have one brand new 512 DIMMS that I could swap out with the old ones (3 @ 256). I'll give that a try. Good idea.
