help installing the wind xp pack 2

Question

i went onto dell support and got the info i needed to install the micro wind xp service pack 2  it told me to install upgrades to my  bios  i did what it said and hope i did it right  i followed the directions and got the icon on the desktop and then doubled click on it like it said  a box came up stating the  download of the bios  and i clicked ok,  i guess it installed and then it rebooted but i thought it would ask me to put it on a floppy like the directions said ,but it did not   now i went to the drivers  but when i go to the download it ask me to download using http link or f tp or something like  that ,  i used the http link for the  bios like it said but no instructions for the drivers  any one have any ideas do i need the  windows xp service pack 2?

It's very difficult to answer your question without knowing which model computer you have and which version of the BIOS upgrade file you downloaded. Steve

i have a dell dimension 8300 and i upgrades bios d8300a06.exe

i guess it is installed How do i go and check to see if it installed or not i dont know where to go to check the bios any help would be appreciated thanks Steve

The Dell BIOS version number is usually displayed when the system boots up.  It will be displayed as the letter ' A' followed by a number, such as: A06.  If you don't see the version number during boot up then go into your BIOS Setup by pressing the F2 key when the machine is booting and you see the Dell logo.  The current BIOS version will be listing on the top of the BIOS Setup page.
