HELP!!! Reformatting...
Hello. I am a total newbie when it comes to the troubleshooting of computers. I have a Dell XPS 400 and just recently my sister and nephew came to town to visit. My nephew put TONS of viruses on my computer that I cannot get rid of and I just want to reformat my computer back to it's original state when I first took it out of the box. I looked through my Dell CDs and I don't see a reformat CD anywhere.
Any idea what I need to do in order to reformat my computer back to normal? Please help!
Megan =)

You should have one disk that will say for reinstalling the operating system
If you are running XP as the Operating system go HERE to find the steps to restore the computer
If you are running Vista as the Operating system go HERE to find th steps to restore the computer

I don't have a disc for reinstalling the Operating System. I have: Monitor CD, Cineplayer CD, PC-cillin CD, and Dell XPS Resource CD.
I clicked that first link you posted and it talks about Vista. The second link isn't there. I have Windows XP Home Media Center as my operating system.
I can't do any System Restores because whatever virus it is, it won't let me. I keep getting these .exe error messages that pop up whenever I open up Internet Explorer. It got to the point where IE wouldn't really work at all and I had to install Mozilla Firefox as my browser.
I don't know what to do if I don't have that CD.

Hey
sorry about the second link but you don't need it anyways since your on XP go HERE
this is the XP method for factory restore. you normally do not need the disk for that.
What you should do also is go HERE and request a replacemnet disk. Looks like you never go one with the system....
