Help!!
I am looking for some advice regarding my Dell PC (Inspiron 530). When I press the power button, the fan comes on, and stays on, but it does not boot; the monitor screen remains black. The monitor (when pressing one of it's controls) says the computer is in sleep mode; I have tested the monitor with another computer and it works fine. I have also changed the 3V battery, and the computer remains completely unresponsive; only the fan running. I have unplugged it, and tried to restart, but with no response from the keyboard, mouse, or monitor, I am getting the sense that the computer is dead. Any ideas?

The LED is steady amber, with no beeps or error messages (monitor remains black). I've made no changes to the PC at all.

Is the power button LED, Steady Blue, Blinking Blue, Steady Amber, Blinking Amber?
Are there any 'Beeps', or error messages, if there are, please post the exact text of the message?
Have you made any changes to the 530 recently?
The Inspiron 530 Troubleshooter and Diagnostic Codes are HERE.

Try opening the case, remove and reinstall all the power and data cables, memory modules, plus if installed, the PCI x16 video card and see if this makes a difference.

While you're doing what Bev. suggested, remove the motherboard battery and then press/hold the power button for ~30 sec before reinstalling the battery (right-side-up!)
Always power off, unplug and press/hold power button for ~15 sec before removing/reinstalling any hardware. :emotion-5:
