How can cpu clock speed be changed?

The only way to do it with a Dell system is to replace the 2.8 CPU with a 3.2.

This is called overclocking, which is not supported on any Dell except the XPS Gen 5 and XPS 600, with a specific 840EE DC CPU.

Advantage? You have a faster CPU don't you. The downside is the CPU will get a lot hotter and you will probably shorten its life. To prevent it from getting hotter you will have to add more cooling ie. more powerful HSF, liquid cooling, etc. There's no such thing as a free lunch. :smileysad:
