How do you enable hyperthreading?

I wiped the XP-Home that came with my Dell 4500 2.66 GhZ Pentium IV 533 FSB w/hyperthreading and installed XP-pro. Now when I go to control panel-system-devices I only see one CPU.  I went to bios and saw no setting to change.  How do I get the hyperthreading working again?

Hello, I also have hyperthreading but on p4 2.8 and I hit F12 to enter setup BIOS and there you should be able to enable hyperthreading.

Wargames,

If I'm not mistaken, the only 533 mhz Pentium 4 with hyperthreading is the 3.06 Ghz chip.  Lower speed P4s with hyperthreading are only available with the 800 mhz chips.

Hi,

Restart PC and hold down F2 to get Dell Bios/Setup

Goto 'CPU Information' and enable Hyper-Threading.

Like valcano says...the 2.66Ghz 533Mhz does not support hyperthreading. The only 533Mhz processor that does is the 3.06Ghz. You aren't going to be able to enable it in the Bios. The 800Mhz processors do have hyperthreading.

I have Dimension 8250 with P4 3.06GHz with hyperthreading, running Win XP Pro.  If I follow these instructions and turn it on, do I gain anything, i.e. run faster?  Would I encounter any problems?  Thanks.
