HUGE PRECISION T5400 PROBLEM
Hi,
I have huge problem with Dell Precision T5400 workstations.
When I connect the Blackmagic Multibridge Pro 2 units to
any PCI express slot of the Dell workstations the unit is not
recognized by the slot.
Please know that these Multibridge units work great in
any other workstation.
Could you please send me the newest BIOS which shall address
the isssues.
I look forward to hearing from you soon and thank you in advance.
Yours faithfuly,
Gorazd.

Hi,
I seem to have the same kind of problems,
I bougt 2 Precision T5400 and 2 Decklink HD multibridge pro cards/breakouts connecterd to the PCI-express slot 4
When the system starts it gives an error "cannot initialize pci-expres slot 4"
I can resume with F1 and the system starts normaly but without the Decklink card....
First thing i did was going to the Black magic site... end there it said... DELL workstations are NOT supported...
Come on this can't be true!
Anyone found any answers or solutions to the decklink problem???
THANKS

Hi,
The only solution is that you put the PCI express card in the first
PCI express slot 8X wired as 4. Then the Dell precision T5400
shall boot fine and the card can be sucessfuly installed,
but only in the WIN XP environment without 3GB switch enabled.
Please know that Dell stil did not relese the new BIOS which shall
address the issues with the Express card devices and
3GB switch registry addressing.
We have found that also the Maxtronic RAID-X card does not
work in the PCI Express 2.0 16 x slot of the DELL
Precision workstation although the ATTO U320 dual SCSI 5U
card works fine.
We stil wait the solution of the DELL to addres the PCI Express issues
with the PCI express devices on the Intel 5400 chipset.
The MAC allready addressed the issues this with their Intel
5400 MAC PRO machines with the new BIOS released allready
in end of march and this is documented on Apple download support
section but Dell stil did addressed the isuess.
Best regards,
Gorazd.

Ok,
At least there is a way to install it then!
I do have the sas controller and the Quadro ,but they will probably be easier to swap with.
Thanks for the quick response!
I'll try it first thing in the morning at work tomorrow.
And post my findings :)
cheers, Jack
