Although the system is capable of using the Hyperthreading technology the feature is not available below 3 gHz processors. You would need the 3gHz processor to have this functionality.

Intel's list of processors that support hyperthreading can be found here. I can see quite a few that are under3 GHz.

See the specifications for the 4600 at the following site:
http://docs.us.dell.com/docs/systems/dim4600/en/4600/sm/specs.htm#1084976
Note that 2 versions of the 2.4 Ghz chip are possible with the 4600. Any of the the 800 mhz chips will support hyperthreading. The only 533 mhz chip that supports hyperthreading is the 3.06 Ghz chip. If your 2.4 Ghz chip is a 533 mhz chip hyperthreading is not supported and the option will not show up in the BIOS. If your chip is a 2.4 Ghz, 800 mhz chip, hyperthreading is supported and the option to enable/disable it will show up in the BIOS.

I do know dell offered some 4600's with and without HT, but I don't remember which ones. I would either look on your invoice (HT should be listed or not), or download and run Belarc Advisor and it will tell you all about what is included in you system. It can be found here.

right click on My Computer it will bring up menu than click Properties and click Hardware click Device Manager double click on Processors.
If you have 2 cpu's listed your computer has Hyperthreading If your computer has 1 cpu then it don't have Hyperthreading.
Hope this helps
Ps I read this somewhere.

If hyperthreading is an option in the 4600, it should be shown in the system BIOS under "CPU information". The systems ship with HT disabled by default when new:

What Steve said.
800mhz FSB chips down to the 2.4GHz were available with HT, and only the 3.06 in the 533mhz FSB...
