Image doesn't fill screen

I have a 2010 Dell ST2210 wide screen monitor attached to my Dell Inspirion desktop. My connection is an HDMI cable. It has been running fine since purchased. On Friday, after booting up, I noticed the screen image did not entirely fill the monitor area. I have 3/4" black borders on the sides of my screen and 1/2" black border at top and bottom. My mouse cursor will extend to the edges of the image but stops at these black borders.I went through my monitor settings in Control Panel and they were set correctly at 1920 x 1080. I also checked the monitor settings through the monitor menu buttons on the side of the monitor. The screen size setting was set to fill. I reset this and there was no change. I would appreciate suggestions on how to change the image size to fill the full monitor. Thanks

Go into the advanced video card settings for and look for Scaling. Set that to 100%.

Chris -

I went to Control Panel, Display, Adjust Resolution, Advanced Settings,Troubleshooting and the Change Settings button is inactive. Should I look somewhere else?

I have an ATI Radeon HD5450 video card that came with the tower. I noticed today that I had a Windows update alert. It stated there had been several recent failures of the ATI Graphics driver. I downloaded all of the Windows 7 updates available. I also checked for additional updates for my graphics card. I received a message that stated my drivers were current. I'm going to check the ATI Radeon website next. As of now, though, the screen image issue still exists.

I went to the AMD site and downloaded the latest driver update for my ATI video card. I used the "auto detect" feature on AMD's website. Still no change in my display. Any other suggestions?

Remove the video card driver per these instructions and retest.

Thank you for the additional help. Unfortunately, my problem is not resolved. I still have a 19" image on my 22" monitor. I went through the list you sent me. Not everything was exactly as you noted. I removed the ATI Catalyst Install Manager. I also noted I had an AMD Catalyst Install Manager. I did not touch this. I looked for the Program file (x86)\ATI Technologies and did not see it listed. I then ran Driver Sweeper. It did not have a Clean button. It DID have a Scan button so I used that. I indicated I had 21 drivers that were out of date. I purchased the DriverFinder software and downloaded the drivers I needed. I rebotted. I ran Scan again and then downloaded and installed another 16 drivers. I rebooted. I ran Scan again and did not see ATI display driver listed as requiring an update. I downloaded the latest AMD Ati driver. It actually downloaded AMD Catalyst Control Manager and the ATI Radeon HD driver it said I needed. I rebooted again. I ran DriverFinder Scan again and it did not list ATI driver as out of date. I looked for the CCC Advanced application but I did not see it anywhere. So, I could not check the orientation or reolution through this feature. I went back to my Programs and Features and noticed I had AMD Catalyst Control Manager, but I do not have ATI Catalyst Control Manager. I still have the same problem as when I started. What is next on your list of things to try, short of calling Geeks! They are expensive.
