Installing new programs

Could anyone tell me why or what I'm doing wrong when installing a new program
I notice after the install that each of the programs I installed where highlighted with a yellow tint. The factory installed programs have no tint behind them only the ones I installed. my week old dell has windows XP.

Windows XP by default highlights newly installed programs. Try ritght clicking on the start button and select customize on the start menu tab. Then select the advanced tab and clear the "highlight newly installed programs" check box. If I am guessing correctly this should eliminate the yellow highlights.

gingersnap,

That is XP's way of advising you that the program is newly installed. To turn this feature off, right-click the Start button and choose Properties. On the Start Menu tab click Customize. On the Advanced tab uncheck "Highlight newly installed programs."
