installing printer
I am away from home, so I rented a Dell. It did not come with a printer, so I purchaced a Lexmarck 1185. I cannot get printer installed. Messages are "perimeters are wrong". When I try to uninstall to start over, I show no printer installed. When I went to programs to look for Lexmark files, I was able to delete all but one. Message was "cannot delete ConDIBdill access denied." Please help, I need to print.

What model is the Dell, and what Operating System? That is needed for someone to give you specific assistance. It sounds like that will be needed rather than just some general comments, which is all we can give you without knowing what you have.
Also, if this is a Laptop, not a Dimension Desktop model, you really need to post in the applicable mode section. e.g. if it's an Inspiron laptop, post in the Inspiron section of the forum.

First, do not connect the unit to the PC until the installation program tells you, if you connect the device first either Windows will install wrong drivers or the installation will fail.
Try it again, and see if it will install correctly. If not, download the latest drivers from the Lexmark site and try them. http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:435:0:0&os_group=Windows%20XP&target=
You can do a System Restore and restore the PC to a date/time BEFORE you first attempted to install the Lexmark and start from there. That should clean out any left over fragments before you try the install again. Also turn off any antivirus programs before installing.
