Integrated 6150LE on E521?

Didn't know that integrated video doesn't allow for a dvi output so i can hook up my E228WFP digitally. I had asked Dell CSR about dvi on monitor, but didn't realize that integrated video doesn't have this output on the tower. Do I simply need a video card with dvi output or something is wrong here?

You can get an adapter to hook up your dvi plug to a vga socket.  Of course, the picture quality will suffer.  Best thing to do is to go out and get a PCIE 16 video card that supports DVI.  Depending on what you use the computer for, the card you should get will vary, but if you post back with a price range I'm sure we can get you hooked up.

thanks for a quick reply. I am not heavily into games although my son might be with this new monitor. Now video processing is for me, i.e. making mini-dv movies into dvd disks with all features and bells and whistles.
price range in the area of $100 , could be AR.

To both of you:

In my opinion, the best buy (unless you are into serious gaming) for around 100 bucks is the 7600GT (the link goes to an EVGA card, but other companies such as XFX and BFG also make good products).  It has both DVI and VGA outputs (1 each) and is quite powerful for a mid level card.  Even though the power requirement says 350, it will easily run on the stock Dell PSU (confirmed by many in the community).  It will be fine for video editing, and can also render modern games with decent resolution and detail levels.  The only drawback to the card is that it does not support dx10, and as a result it's not completely future proof.  However, for the money, it's a great GPU that will make you happy for at least a year or two, after which DX10 single slot cards will be much less expensive.

If you absolutely want a dx10 card now, check out the 8600GT (which can be found on newegg).

I am in the very same situation - although I knew it would not support DVI.

I did not like the 2 other options offered with the E521.

The constraint is that most of the good graphic cards out there requires a 350 Watts or 450 Watts power supply, where the E521 comes with a 305 Watts one.

So if someone has a card to suggest (other than the 2 proposed by Dell), that would be great.

Rorsach is right-on with his advice. I run the 8600GT on my E521 with no problems. This is the one I have:
