Intel Application Accelerator

I haven't changed my System yet. But I'd like to upgrade to a 200GB Drive. As far as I know from the Internet Intel has a tool for download (For more Information see here: http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/iaa/), that supports the chipset in the "Dell Optiplex GX150" Computer. With this tool the chipset should be able to acces the full capacity of HDs greater than 137GB.
As I wrote above, I have not tried the tool yet, but I will. It seems, that the IAA runs under Windows, and so the upper GB of the HD will be recognized, after the start of Windows, but not while the system is booting. If it works here, I will post a message on the board (hope I don't forget). If you make any experience with IAA before me, it would be nice, if you do so.

I did use IAA on Dell GX110 for the hard disk Maxtor 200G and both are successful. But the condition is your motherboard chipset should be 810 or above.
If not, there still is another option:
Windows XP with SP1 or above installed then run Maxtor's big disk programme which can be easily downloaded from the web. I've got it done on an IBM pc for the same 200G as well.

If this system is the GX150 that was mentioned, it has an 815 chipset, and therefor the Intel solution should work.

I have my Optiplex GX150 now working with a 250GB Maxtor Harddrive. It was instantly recognized by the BIOS (A11) and it works perfect.

The INTEL AA supports only WINDOWS not DOS.
If you want to use it with WIN98SE you must have 48 bit LBA support in BIOS.

This is also why intel also has a DOS 48bit LBA test program.
