Intel Dual-core.

Hello everyone.
Saturday I've read an article on the internet. It said Dell would offer Dual Core systems like the Intel Pentium 840 based on the Intel i955XE chipset. Do you know something about it?

Woah, that is one expensive computer. I really hope the price for that processor goes down soon. It would be sweet if I could get a resonably priced laptop with the dual core processor in the first couple of months of next year.

Just wait, you will be able to.  I imagine Dell will intoduce an 8500 (let's hope they have a new case) in the June/July timeframe with the Pentium D chip.  Intel is ramping up production and it will be hot.  I bet the Pentium-M will have a dual core variant by christmas.

I don't know about the dual core mobile processor.  Dual core drinks a lot of power so I would not expect a mobile version anytime soon.  Perhaps Intel will come up with some way to turn off the other core with it is not needed.

They already did, on the LT CPU's it will do that.

i'm perplexed! How did you get to that? I can't find the gen5 anywhere on the site
$2700 seems like a pretty good deal for what you're getting though thanks to that 35% off they have running now.
