Intel pro/100 ve network connection

I have a Dimension 4700. It just stopped connecting to the internet. I have tried troubleshooting and I have come across this problem with the network connection. In the device status it says - This device cannot start. (code 10)

I have looked over and over in this forum for some help or advice and none seem to fit my needs. Can anyone help?

thanks!!!

First, go to the Dell Download site and download the latest drivers for the network adapter.  Have the downloaded file ready for later.   Next, boot into Safe Mode and uninstall the network adapter.   Reboot into Normal Mode, cancel the New Hardware Wizard, if it starts, then run the file you downloaded to reinstall the drivers.

Is this the same problem PC in your other post where you said there's a "Network Interface Controller:Self test Failure" error?

I responded there.

I beg do differ with you.  You can connect to the internet since you would not be able to read messages or post messages on this forum if you could not connect to the internet.   You need to download the dirvers on a computer that has a working internet connection, then copy the downloaded files to a CD-R or USB flash drive and then move copy them from the CD-R or flash drive to the computer with the problem.

Yes, it is. I had done a little further investigation after posting that one. I'll look at that and see if it helps.

Thank you!!

How can I go to the site and download the drivers if I cannot connect to the internet?

I'm sorry, I feel I am going to make this more complicated by saying that I do have a laptop that can connect to internet, which is what has me looking for help. I did not think to use this "working computer" to download to the one that is not working. My hampster is not running on his wheel as fast as yours is. LOL I will give your advice a try. Thank you!!
