intel processor core speed
hello
i tried to find the answer on the web by looking specifications on intel website and other sites
but none of them fully give me the answer, so i am thinking experts in here can help give the answer
i just found out that my core speed (i am using intel quad Q9550) didnt stay on 2.8Ghz instead it dynamically change between 2Ghz - 2.8Ghz range, based on daily usage, i havent check under 100% processor usage though, Is that normal?

It is absolutly normal.
My QX9650 is clocked to 3.6 but when at desktop or doing less cpu intensive things (web browsing etc) it will drop to 2.
I believe it is part of the power saving features these chips have.
Rest assured when tthe cpu power is required. It will automatically "clock up" as mine does.
You can check this by downloading "CPUZ" it's free and will let you see the clock speed "real time" Open it up and run a video or something that takes a bit of power and you should see the cpu "clock up"
