internet explorer on xp missing files
I have lost some components of internet explorer. iecont.dll and ieconhc.dll. I believe I inadvertently deleted them when performing a virus scan. so IE will not function. I also cannot use dell studio I believe for the same reason..it says error opening database 2000. I have tried loading the xp disc and doing a repair as suggested on this forum but it still does not work. Does anyone have any suggestions please.

Neither of those files are legitimate Microsoft files, so repair will not correct the problem. There is some discussion of the problem in this thread.
You might try reinstalling Internet Explorer using the procedure here. If that does not correct the problem a clean reinstall should.
