Internet Explorer problems, need help

Question

I have WinMe installed and I'm currently running Internet Explorer 6.00.2462.0000(the first IE6 Beta). When the 2nd IE6 beta was released I downloded it and during the install I got an error stating that all the components were not installed, reboot and try again. I did about 5 times using both install methods(Restarting where it left off and starting all over) and neither worked. I finally gave up and was just being content with the 6.00.2462.0000 version I have. I just got the update for IE 6.0.2600.0 final version. I thought well since this is a final version it might work, I was wrong. It's doing the samething that the 2nd release was doing, giving me an error during install and prompting me to reboot and start over. I thought that maybe there is something wrong with the version that I have now that is keeping it from installing. I went to the Add/Remove in the Control Panel clicked on Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Tools with hope to uninstall this version. It only gives me 2 options and that's 'Add a component' and 'Repair Internet Explorer'. I've tried doing both and no luck. How do I remove this Internet Explorer and get the new one installed????????? Thanks Steve I've figured it out or atleast it worked. I reinstalled WinMe and it reinstalled 5.5 and then installed the newer version 6.0.2600.0000. Thanx
