Hello mkfarnam,

Several issues can slow your internet explorer, other than the computer itself.  Are you connecting using a wireless modem/router?  If so, are other comptuters using this router also, because this will slow your system down.  Other wireless devices, ie, mouse and keyboard will slow your wireless IE down,  the age of your router and the routers OS as well.

If you are a wired system, what firewall/virus protection are you using.  If the router/DSL/Cable Modem has firewall enabled you do not need it to be enabled on the PC also,  certain virus protection programs interfer with Vista, so check to make sure they are set to allow networking/IE.  Do you have a home network?  does it allow direct IE access?

Check those things out and if it does not fix your issue please post back,

Best,

Darrell WV
