Loading DRMK Version 8.00 error on XPS400
I did a pc restore using the ctrl+F11 action and when it sucessfully reboots it hangs and says "Loading DRMK Version 8.00". I was wondering if there is a work around for this. I have no disks simply an ineffective restore process. I even tried to use a partinion editor and restored the ghost image manually but that didn't work. The problem isn't with the ghost image it is with the rebotting process so please don't refer me to the goodells.net site. I have been through that and that article doesn't adress this issue.
Thanks in advance,

Yes, the article does address that issue. The problem you are seeing is that the special registration program in the first partition has become corrupted, so it hangs while attempting to boot. The correction for the problem is to use the partition table editor to mark the second (NTFS) partition active so that the partition containing Windows is booted instead. Study the article so that you mark the 1st and 2nd partitions correctly.

You need to use a partition table editor to mark the correct partition as the active partition. In order to do this you will likely need to learn how to make a bootable CD containing a partition table editor. The third post in this thread gives you the instructions you need to decide what partition you need to mark as active. In order to do that, however, you need to have a bootable disk that contains a partition table editor. The tools that are described in Dan Goodell's study are mostly DOS based, which means the CD will need to boot to DOS. Given that you have an XPS machine, and therefore use SATA hard drives, you may need to change the SATA controller to an IDE compatible mode in order for the DOS to see the hard drive allowing you to make the change.
This procedure will be considerable work to perform. The main advantage you have in doing it is that you get a complete restoration of the Windows operating system and any software that was installed by Dell for delivery with the computer. You need to decide if having the computer restored to that state is worth the effort when you can probably restore the computer manually using the operating system and application disks that should have shipped with the computer.
If you still want to try to get back to the partition that you have already restored, the complete study by Dan Goodell is here: Inside the Dell PC Restore Partition. Study it carefully so that you have a good idea what you will need to do in order to continue.

Ok i been reading some forums about, the loading drmk 8.00 erroe...i have the issue with my xps 435..its the windows vista. i talked to dells tech and they have no clue what i was talking about...go figure. but i been doing some research on this i keep hearing the same thing overe and over but found no solution..but i guess there is nothing to be done for windows vista...I keep hearing about partitions, but the funny thing is, i have done many restores from my pc and not once has this came up until a couple weeks ago, i called dell to help me with my first restore and they deleted all partitions and put a new one in now im just using one partition...and i never had a problem doing a restore until now...it just sounds like a bad hard drive...i have not hear of anyone being able to solve this issue..but if anyone thinks they can help out well ill listen...

Hi Goldenglove)25,
I've got a response in your other thread. Let's keep the conversation going there.
