Looking for computer for 3D rendering
Hi,
I'm looking for a new desktop to create still architectural images and videos presentations. I use 3D max, Vue, photoshop.
I've seen Dell Precision or XPS?
Any help?

Depending on the image needs, you will need a strong graphics card & lots of memory. I would opt for a Precision. They can support a lot more memory than a XPS (although 4GB may be all you need); don't forget the 64-bit OS to support the large memory sizes (anything >4GB). A quad-core processor with SAS main drive(s) and a large SATA drive for near-line data archival would work out well. Then you can choose what PCI-Express x16 card to get, whether an all-around card (like the Nvidia 8800GT) or a professional card (like the FireGL or QuadroFX series); check benchmarks for your particular app to determine which one to choose.
