Low Power Mode BIOS setting
The company I work for is making an effort to being environment-aware.
One of the things that keeps us busy, is trying to determine if and how we can save power on our desktops and laptops.
My managers are interested to know what this BIOS setting "Low Power Mode" does exactly.
I know that with this setting enables, Wake-On-Lan will be impossible if the pc/laptop has been shut down (no power to the NIC), but that's all I know.
Is there anyone out there who can provide more information about what this setting does in detail?

You failed to note the PC Product line and model.
But for an Optiplex GX520, this is what the BIOS listing shows for "low power mode" which apparently does not do much at all and would seem to be mis labled as "low power".
Low Power Mode
When Low Power Mode is selected, remote wakeup events no longer turn on from Hibernate or Off unless an additional NIC card is installed.
NOTE: This setting affects only the integrated network controller.

Thanks for your reply.
Is that setting any different on other models? I'm assuming it to be the same on all the models that have this setting.
But we have several different models, GX520's, 755's, 780's and different laptops, latitude D620's, D630's, D430's.
I haven't seen that specific NOTE part before, I may have missed it somehow, but it's actually what I expected.

We are not Dell employees, just users helping users on here. I would have to pull up all the referenced Models manuals to see if it's there. You can do the same thing. Go to www.support.dell.com and you can access manuals for any model.
