Machine does not boot
Hello
I am a rare visitor here as my machine is usually very reliable. It is an 8400 series, fitted with XP Professional and SP3, full memory, 137 GByte SCSI HD.
The machine does not boot. No beep codes, just an error message I need help in understanding:
'R480 VGA DVI TVO BIOS BR10007'
which takes a prize for terseness and lack of actual information. Can anybody decipher this for me.
HD powers up before this message appears, and then continues to run, but, apart from the message, the screen is black.

Looks like a video card problem, either hardware or video driver software.
Reboot and immediately press F8. Assuming you see the menu, select Last Known Good and see if it boots now. If that works, shut down normally and reboot normally.
If Last Good doesn't work, try again but pick Safe Mode+Networking from the F8 menu. Does that work?
If that doesn't help, you might try reseating video card in its slot and checking the cable connection between monitor and tower. Always power off, unplug and press/hold power button for ~15 sec before opening the case.
When was last time you replaced motherboard battery?
Do you have a spare PCI-e x16 video card you can test?
And keep in mind that XP is no longer supported so the system is at risk for malware....
