Major Problems
I am pretty computer stupid, so please be kind.
I was on the web, earlier. Suddenly I got some yellow lines on the page I was on. Then, my computer rebooted by itself. All that came up was the Dell logo, then the Windows logo, then nothing. Just a black screen and the monitor light blinked. The Dell logo was very messed up looking. Parts of the Dell and white booting line were missing and there were colons and semi-colons all over the screen. The bios and setup was all messed up, too, and unreadable, though they came up. I decided to reinstall. All the words were messed up. Where an "a" should have been, there would be an "i", etc. So, it was difficult to read. Luckily, I have reformatted, before, and knew what to press. Once Windows starting loading, that was fine and readable. But, my computer is still a mess. I can't change the video, for one. It stays at 640 x 480 and only 4 bits. Just about anything I look at, in the control panel says that it is unavailable. All 4 lights, on the back, are green, if that makes a difference. Can someone help. please?!
Thanks,
Mrs. D. Taylor

Thanks dageezerus. I have reformatted, enough, to know that. I finally found the problem. My newer video card went out. Thank goodness I kept the original. Now, I just have to hunt for the warranty and see if it's still good. Thanks, much, for trying to help, though!

Now that you have reloaded windows, you'll have to reload the drivers. Start with the chipset utility, then video drivers, sound, modem & network cards if necessary.

Select you system & your operating system & this tool will help you with the driver installation.
