Media Card Reader on XPS

Is the 13 in one media card reader worth getting on the xps 400? Or would it be just as good to buy an external reader?
Also ,if I`m reading Dells info correctly ,it says that their 13 in 0ne reader also comes with a 1394 port?.. Is that right?

Thanks

The media card reader is a good buy IMO. It does not have a FireWire port. FireWire can be added in the configuration, and if added will have a front port in the I/O panel. Dell adds the 1394a via either 1) upgraded sound card (if elected when configuring) or 2) controller card if onboard audio in maintained. Currently, the adapter card is made by Adaptec and also provides two FireWire ports in back in addition to the front port.

How does this reader differ from the previously sold 9 in 1 reader I bought last month?

Ok, apart from capacity to work with 4 more card types ...

... the 9 in 1 also has four slots. Is this just a software / firmware difference or is extra hardware included?

The 9-in-1 does not claim to support these cards that the 13-in-1 does, according to the "Help Me Choose" when configuring the media card reader:

Memory Stick Duo®

Memory Stick Duo PRO®

Mini-SD

RS-MMC

What is the difference in these two readers?
