Memory Issue? Computer very slow response
I have a XPST600 which I added 128mg memory to approx. six months ago and the
system has run fine until a month ago when things started to bog down and has
gradually gotten worse. Some programs are extremly slow to open and the cursor
is slow to move across the screen while waiting for the action to complete. I
have a utility program (Macafee) that I ran memory test on and I get many errors
in the various tests run and never see any passes. I have since removed dimm and
the system seems to be fine with the normal response I have been used to.
However, I still see many errors when running these memory tests. The dimms I
upgraded to are dell certified, could this be a BIOS issue? or a conflict some-
-where else. I have also reseated the dimms in various banks and the result is
still the same, ran scan disk and defragmented hard drive and everything checks
out O.K. on that end. Any thoughts?

You said, "The dimms I upgraded to are dell certified, could this be a BIOS issue? or a conflict somewhere else?"
Dell certified? By who, where did you get the memory?
You can run a full diagnostics scan using the Dell diagnostics disk. This will show you where your problems are in your hardware if you have any.
And, I agree that you may have too many things starting with Windows. Look here -
