Memory not detected.

Hello all, i have a Dimension 8400 and i just installed four 1gb sticks of ram on it. The BIOS detects all four sticks, and when i had my 256mb GeForce 6800GTO installed on it, windows XP showed 3gb of ram. However, recently I installed a 512mb GeForce 8500GT and now windows says i only have 2.25gb of ram. I understand the 32-bit windows memory limit, but i still don't get how if my GPU is 512mb i only have 2.25gb of ram (2.25gb + 512mb = about 2.75gb). What happened to the other 1.25gb of ram? I am out of ideas. Please help!

You have system and maybe other bios memory space to include. Beside the extra ram on the card, it bios may be larger.

One idea, just try reseating the ram and see if that helps, that all i can think of after what the other two have said.
