Per the XPS 600 manual, this system will only support 2GB with a 32-bit OS.

Please have some patience!! You posted less than 24 hrs ago and you've already bumped this thread twice! This is a user's forum, and we're all unpaid volunteers with our own jobs and lives (and none of us work for Dell). :emotion-5:

We need some more details. How was the original RAM configured,  2x1 GB? You said you now have 2x2GB so did you buy 4 GB new or did you mix new with old...?

Dell PCs can be very finicky about the brand of RAM used. Are you sure the new RAM is compatibile? And even if the new RAM matches your system's requirements, it might not work properly. Many people around here use RAM from cruical.com because they guarantee it works or they take it back.

Since you're getting the Memory Size Changed message, you may have to power off and unplug. Then press/hold the power button on the tower for ~15 sec. Open the case and remove the motherboard battery. Press/hold power button again for ~30 sec. Reinstall the battery (right-side-up!) and see if it boots now.

Since removing the battery will reset BIOS to factory defaults, you may get a floppy drive seek error when you reboot, if you don't have an internal floppy drive. In that case, reboot and go into BIOS setup (F2). Find the option for the floppy drive controller and set it to OFF.

Sorry, was little impatient.

I put in 2 new sticks, recommended by Dell for my system,

Since posting I have read what Dev Mgr on another site.

Thanks for help guys.

Time for new OS followed by New rig.

I am looking at Win 7 Pro - 64. I think it will work on my XPS 600 until i get a new rig.
