Memory Problems

When I boot my dell pc on , past the dell and the windows xp splash screen, this problem appears: (this is what exactly it says)

***Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for support
NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error
***The system has halted***

I have a Dimension 5150  Can anyone help me?
Thx.

It is clearly indicating a problem with the memory. However, I did not think the memory used had parity. Anyway, I would run the Dell diagnostics (boot option or boot from the resource CD) or try swapping in some known good memory.

It has nothing to do with the RAM installed in the pc. THis is a general error that pops under several circumstances. Many dell users have it with 3rd party cards installed by dell. I am having with a Inspirion E1705 just one month out of box. I have narrowed it down to the wireless card Dell installed. The Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG card they installed. I have a pain Win XP MC install and all latest Dell updates for BIOS and cards. The update to the bluetooth card reducded the frequency but it still happens at least every 3 days. Most frequent when I am in an iffy wireless network that it is aquiring and losing as signal strengh varies.

So far calls to Dell premuim support have been unsucessful. Sadly I think we need to wait for dell to finally fix a card driver.

Keyword search NMI: Parity Check Error  and you will find lots of reports here.

I called Dell technical support and asked for new memory chips, but, thanks anyways for helping.
