Memory Problems?Windows?

I don't know if it is a problem with Windows or a problem with my Rdram. But for the past month
after I've been on my computer for a while, when I
minimize a window(or sometimes out of the blue)
all of the desktop icons refresh,
and when I go to the start menu and go thru the list it's really sluggish? It's almost like everything in the start menu gets dumped out of memory and I have to go to each selection in the menu to put it back and then it works smoothly again until a while later
then it sometimes does it again? Anybody know
what's wrong? Please help, Micah.

I don't know myself, but Dell better find a fix for it.
I just got in my new PC, and it has 256 RDRAM.
Windows os still operating at 45% of my systems potential. It leaves me with a Whopping 56mg. of
RAM available.
I'm NOT IMPRESSED...

I found out that a memory problem can happen when there are too many things loading at the start. I called Dell Support and they told me to go to START/RUN/TYPE IN MSCONFIG/OK/
when window comes up click STARTUP. Then look at items that are checked. Mine had two or three checked twice. I unchecked them. The items I am supposed to have are Scan Registry, System Tray, AVCONSOLE EXE/USSTATEXE MCAFEE VSSHWIN 32EXE STILLMONITOR IMAGE AND REALTRAY. If they get checked twice it takes away your memory. Then you have to restart to make it take effect, and it will do it again. I check it periodically. Hope this helps. I ordered mine with enough memory also.

I done all of that, I have 128MB of ram I think I found the problem. I ran Dr. Watson and it said I had a problem with my ICONFIG.EXE and to shut it down. That fixed some of it. Then I unistalled System Suite 2000 and I haven't noticed the problem
so I hope it is gone! Thanks for the advice though!

I have 128 of RAM also. What is Dr. Watson, I may need it sometime in the future. I am using DELLNET right now because I bought a DELL computer and they gave me free Internet for one year. However, I am cut off at every attempt. they cut me off sometimes before I can even get to my home page. Have you ever had that trouble? I am thinking about going to Earthlink. Hey they have just cut me off so now Ihave to sign on before I can send this. STUPID

If you go to Accessories, System Tools, Then to System Information, then when you open up System Information Window, click on tools, then go down to Dr. Watson. When you open Dr. Watson it puts it on your system tray, then just double click it. I don't have ISP service through Dell, I use my local telephone company. I have had a few occasions here and there with getting cut off line, It just depends on how many people is on that server at the time and if the server is having any problems I guess?
