I was just looking at refurbished Dimensions online and some of them had the DDR2 Non-ECC SDRAM. What is the Non-ECC part?

Is there a down side to this? Is one better than the other?

So is one better than the other? Would I be better off buying a new computer with the ddr2 sdram or a used one with the ddr2 non-ecc sdram. All I plan on doing is surfing the net and burning DVD's. Any other suggestions would be great.   Thanks Again     Ryan

Home users don't need ECC.

Most OEM desktop systems use non-ECC.   ECC memory is used primarily in servers and costs more.  DDR2 SDRAM NON-ECC memory should be more than adequate for your purposes.

I don't want to sound dumb, but if I wanted to burn DVD's, what would I look for the DVD category? Is there something that I could just add to my current system that would do just as well? I can only go up to 512 RAM and my FSB is only 133MB.  Thanks  Ryan
