Message at Start-up

After reinstalling my OS (Windows XP professinal) I get always this message before booting the OS:

" strike the F1 key to continue or strike the F2 key to enter set-up"

Did anyone know how the System boots without striking the F1 key ?  Sorry for my bad english - I submit from Germany.

Thanks for answers

I am not a expert, but it sounds to me that it is 2 possibilities:

1. Bad install of Windows
2. Hard drive may be failing.

Try to do a clean install of Windows. If you still have problems, I'd suspect the Hard-drive.

Wait, and hopefully someone else can give you better advice, or call Dell.

Reset your BIOS to defaults and clear the 'system event log' while you're there.

In the bios, scroll down to system event log, & clear the log, then turn on caps lock, num lock, scroll lock, then press ALT+E then ALT+F then ALT+B see if this resolves.

many thanks for all answers !!!

I  directly tried  out the advices and it seems that my PC works correct. I had to reinstall the Audio-Controller and then "all engines are running"
