Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth

Hi folks in my recently purchased e520 the audio device is the Gs wavetable Sw synth.
I am into digital live recording,is this device suitable? can the drivers be configured to have this work suitably? If so how do I do it? If not which sound card is recommended,as there are so many.
I have an  Audigy 2 I acquired throufgh afriend . It has the audio interface that goes into a front drive bay. my machine has 2 drive bays. 1 audio and 1 dvd. How would this interface effect the operation of those systems?
I am using Power Tracks  11 and BIAB  for my audio recording tasks. any help in this area would be helpful .

The MS wavetable SW synth is pretty weak.  The Roland VSC33 that comes with BIAB is much better and almost equals the hardware synths on a SoundBlaster Audigy sound card.   And with the latest version of BIAB, they provide wav files for actual drum samples - not MIDI files - and they are much better.

I have the latest BIAB version.  I have a SB Audigy 2 Platinum EX, the model with the external I/O console, rather than the internal that you have.  You would have to remove one of the CD/DVD drives in order to install the SB internal I/O console (reason I went with the external).  If one of the drives is a combo CD/DVD burner, keep that drive as it will do all you need - just you won't be able to do a direct disc to disc copy, however you could put the other drive in an external USB case and use it as a USB connected drive and it will still give you the full capability you have now with the two drives.

Hey Thanks a lot for the reply. I am having trouble with BIAB. I cant play a rendered wav file in Media Player or Music Match ,although they play in BIAB and Powertracks. I get my audio track ,but not the bb track. I thought it was the audio device (wavetable) as the culprit.. so if I am using the Roland VSC ,I should be good? What do I need to do in regards to settings on the computer to make sure the VSC will work properly. I have rendered using the VSC but the latency was off and I could not adjust  the sync of the tracks. Any advice on this would be gratefully accepted.
Thanks, Bossman 1

I don't use the Roland VSC (I use the SoundBlaster Hardware Synth in my SB Audigy 2).  But, one one musician's forum that I visit, the VSC is being used by many of the people there.

But, make sure the VSC is the default MIDI playback device in the BIAB setups.

I don't know why the rendered wav file only plays in certain media players.  If it's a wav file it shouldn't matter.  maybe it's not being rendered correctly?  and could be a problem with the setup or the MIDI synth.

fireberd,do you have any idea why the latency is off when I use vsc ,or dxi?
I ran the gammet of settings from 100 -1997 with no noticable change in the latency.
thanks Bossman 1

Incidently the complete files play in media player when I use these methods . But the latency is off.

I've only used the BIAB render to wav function one time - just to see how it worked and didn't notice any latency issues with the file that I rendered.  As I use the Hardware synth in my SoundBlaster card, I don't have any issues with the software synths.

Sorry, don't have any info on that.
