Microsoft Q Manager?
When I start up my computer, a program with the file "loadqm.exe" shows up on Zone Alarm to access an internet site. Zone Alarm labels this program Microsoft Q Manager. What is this program and what does it do?
When I used a dial up modem, it would connect to internet every time I started the computer. I have been using Selective start up to prevent this from happening. I have gone back to normal start up as I am now using broadband and it still opens up on start up. Whats up?
Thanks for your help.

The following is from my Resources site regarding Loadqm: "Loads the MSN Explorer Query Manager--a waste of resources and bandwidth. (It is also used by MSN Explorer 6.x to check for updates.)"
If you were able to stop your system from automatically connecting using Selective Startup there was something on the startup tab that you unchecked which initiated the connection (possibly for automatic updates of some application or another). Why you would go to Normal Startup because you have broadband is a mystery to me--broadband doesn't conserve resources, which is why you limit the startup programs using Selective Startup. I'd go back to Selective.

Thanks for your reply. I did not go back to normal start up because I have broadband. I wanted to see what would happen when I did. Prior to broadband while using internet connection sharing, this was a real problem. I used selective start up to diagnose which file was dialing up.
The name of the file in question is "loadqm.exe."
If this file has nothing to do with windows, how can I remove it from start up or from my computer all together? Will search and delete take care of my problem? I do not use MSN. My computer came with MSN preloaded which probably placed it in my start up or config file.

Simply uncheck it on the startup tab. Nobody I know uses Normal startup on a Windows 9X system.
