Microsoft Update's ethernet controller, optional update

1. dell dimension 3000, ie8, fully updated, sp3

2. came installed with intel proV100, replaced from dell with one from Realtek

3. Main issue: ie8 takes 20s to load after temp int files cleared or after restart, after that comes up right away, until next cleaning or restart.

4.Main question: since realtek is so old and can not be updated, would the one offered by Microsoft ( Trendware TrendNet Teg PCI Txr 32bit PCI Adaptor), be one I should change to?

Will it help loading IE8 faster?

All help appreciated.

5. some info: have reinstalled os twice within the last 2 weeks to see if the install was the problem, have been using a slipstreamed cd made from oem disk and sp3.

Liz, you might consider a refurbished GX620 like this that is bundled with Windows 7.

The Dimension 3000 is a very dated design and support for XP is ending in less than a year.
