minor problem?

I had used a renagade server system trying to get faster transfer. I didn't get it so I went back to my regular server. Removed the renagade program, BUT, I still have his as a 'provider' at the top of my screen when in Explorer, plus the little rotating globe in the upper rt. corner flashes his symbol most of the time and the rest of the time it is just his symbol. Is there a way to remove this from the system??

I want to add to this...I am having the same problem but with a different program. Right now, I have IE5.5. On the title bar, it shows, IE provided by.....(always something different). Is there a way to take this off? And, like john said, the little icon on the top always is something different. Its almost like IE has different themes every time I use it.

Andrew.

JohnD,

It requires a quick edit of your Registry.

To revert IE5's title to its original (Microsoft Internet Explorer), go to start/run/ type in Regedit and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
Look in the right hand pane for the "Window Title" String. You can either modify it to show the original name (see above), or delete it.
To get back the MS IE5 spinning globe logo, open Regedit and go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar
In the right hand pane, double-click on the "BrandBitmap" String, and delete its value, or delete the entire "BrandBitmap" String. Do the same with "SmBrandBitmap".

Thanks for the help Denny. I did as you said, but in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TOOLBAR I did not have the BrandBitmap string. There was a "BigBitmap and a SmallBitmap , each had "C:\WINDOWS\39x39 for the big and 26x26 for the small.BMP. I didn't mess with those. The LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MAIN didn't correct it, but I found the same in the HKEY_LOCAL MACHINEetc Internet Explorer\International\Main and changed it there. It changed my flyer OK. I still have the TI symbol rather than the rotating globe. You cured some of my problem. It's really not a problem, just an irritant to remind me each time that I was 'had' by the promises of the renagade. Thanks.
