No offense taken. Maybe your question was not  fully understood by the forum members.

If by missing keystrokes you mean that keys are depressed on your keyboard and not recorded on your display, then yes, they are missing. Why? I don't know. Why not? I don't know which keyboard you are using with your E310.

Are you using a standard Dell USB/PS2 wired keyboard, or the Dell wireless keyboard?
Are you using an after market keyboard? (One not offered by Dell)

Do you often eat snacks while using your computer? (I do, and crumbs drop down there)
Turning off the computer, turning the keyboard upside down and gently tapping it a few times generally gets most of the potato chip crumbs out for example. I don't recommend using compressed air between the keys because I have had the key pads go sailing across the workbench.

Hi,
No, I don't eat over the KB. he kb and mouse are optical, came with the pc.
Works fine in OE, note pad etc, the problem is with boxes like this or forms.
I've been through the Dell site and can't find this KB. It has dial knobon the upper rt. hand corner.

Are you using Internet Explorer in the forums or Firefox?

I've found that I have "Issues" using firefox in the Dell forums (Apparently written for IE) so if you are using a different browser, they using IE.

Hi,
IE7 is the only browser Ihave instaled on my pc. The problem occurs regardless of which site I am trying t write in.

This is a user to user forum.  This means that EVERY individual here (Except the moderators) comes here voluntarily and asks/answers questions on their own accord.  Generally, if you read a question, and you have knowledge or inspiration to answer, then you do.  If not, you just read the next one.

There are a core group of people (I'm one) who, lacking any other pastime as productive, look around here for issues we've either seen or can assist in resolving.

That being said, have you tried a different keyboard?

I have tried a usb kb with the same results

Try typing in this space and see what happns wen I'm all done, already dropped a letter, if I keep going it will eventually screw up again. I went to "keyboard" in the control panel and adjusted the "rate", maybe it fixed it , don'tknow for sure yet, just dropped a space. The KB is clean so I'm taling to myself about this, no cookie crumbs, no spilt coffee. If nothing else happens I think I will just ramble.....still have the question as to why this is bothering in the browser and not in OE or notepad etc. Still dropping letters in the text as I read back. Driving myself nuts....short tip, see what  mean, should have been trip. Are we thre yet????

I've got what sounds like the same problem with missing keystrokes in IE7.

Did you manage to fix it?

October 10th, 2008 12:00

No one could tell the the fix to the problem so I uninstalled IE7 and went to the default IE6 browser.

Since then I use Firefox browser all the time cuz it has built in spell check. You can go to add/remove programs and uninstall IE7, your pc will revert to IE6. I am running XP so IE7 was an upgrade anyway.
