You don't say which version of Windows you are running. In Windows ME, go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/Modems. Select your modem, then click on "Properties". Under "Speaker Volume", move the slider to adjust the sound volume. On mine the slider only sets the volume to on or off, your modem may be different. The procedure is probably similar in Windows 98. I don't know about Windows XP.
