HAve you tried a diferent port ??? have you tried uninstalling and installing again the software ??? are you able to open the winodws explorer to browse your device ??? what have you done ??
Yes I've tried different ports. Initally tried all USB 1.0 ports without success. Then I installed a USB 2.0 card and tried ports on this. I've also tested the ports with other devices so I know they are working.
I have uninstalled the software on a couple of occasions. Also downloaded updates for software from the Creative Zen Micro site.
I have laso downloaded the latest updates for windows xp and downloaded Media Player 10 directly from the microsoft site. No change.
I cannot see the device when I open windows explorer but if I go to system tree in control panel I can see the device on the tree.
I've tried connecting to another Dell computer (much newer than mine) and the player connection worked fine/ The only differences I could see (aside from the fact the one that worked was newer) is that the new PC has USB 2.0 ports factory installed.
I have de same problem with my Gigabeat (Toshiba) MP3. I conected it correctly, but when I try to transfer traks from Napster or using Media player it display a warn that say " the device must be conected"
I wasn't able to resolve the problem. From what I could determine there are compatability issues with certain Dell chip sets and some USB2.0 devices. The only solutions are to try a different MP3 palyer or change the motherboard in the PC.
In my case I changed the MP3 player. I went with an Ipod minin and it worked fine. Only draw back is Ipod isn't compatable with Napster.
