MSDOS based program error

I am trying to install a MSDOS based program into my new Dell computer. The error message from the program is "files=40 and needs to be files=80". I have changed the files= to 80 and get a message from the DOS program that "a copy of your original Config.Sys is named Config.Pts" Any suggestions?

The second message is probably not an error. It sounds as if the Dos program is being polite, telling you that it has edited your config.sys file, and backed up the original to config.pts. This is a common occurrence, and it's not unusual to find a number of config.xxx backup files on your drive as a result.
